I am fascinated by the culinary traditions and food culture from all geographic regions of the world. My quest for delightful world cuisine, our love for sight-seeing and distinguishing each country from the next, takes R and I across many new places. Sometimes the venture takes us on travels across the globe and sometimes from one state to another. The question is-- we have already moved from one end of the planet to the other, so why not investigate every place in between?
Traveling is not considered a luxury for most people today. It's easy these days since vacationing does not necessarily mean spending exorbitant amounts of money on expensive airfare and hotel accommodations. As for me, I look around a bit and use whatever resources are available to do my research and that helps us save a bundle of money to use for other luxuries. That makes it easy to find budget -friendly options and I can take great vacations to get to my dream destination. If you still think you cannot afford to travel, think again!
How do I make it happen? I don't always go to a favorite place when I want to go. I make it happen when packages are affordable-Thanks Tripadvisor! I refuse to stay at Backpacker hostels just because I love to travel, nor do I look to stay with friends or family to save on accommodation expenses because I do not want to lose friendships:) Another way to stick to a budget is to walk, walk and walk around and use shuttle buses and public transportation when possible. R and I enjoy this because this exposes us to the local community--we find out the local haunts for good food or farmers markets for fruits and drinks. That way we can maximize our stay and experience the joy of a vacation without having to spend too much, over-eating or be inactive. Don't get me wrong, we are not always frugal. We make sure to have a couple of reservations for the best rated restaurants unique to the place we are visiting right before we leave home.
